Oaktree Capital Management Invests in Inter Milan

MILAN (Reuters) – U.S. investment fund Oaktree Capital Management has injected a total of 47 million euros ($52 million) into Inter Milan, the Italian soccer champions, as announced on Wednesday during the presentation of financial results.

Oaktree became the controlling owner of the Serie A team in May after the former Chinese majority shareholder missed a 395 million euro payment.

Oaktree stated that this investment demonstrates its commitment to the club’s financial and operational stability to support high-level performance both on and off the pitch.

The investment consists of 44 million euros in direct cash injection and an additional 3 million euros converted from existing loans. This capital increase occurred in the first quarter of the 2024-2025 fiscal year.

Inter Milan’s losses have decreased to 36 million euros for the 2023-2024 fiscal year, down from 85 million euros the previous year, thanks to increased revenues driven by positive sporting results which improved commercial turnover.

The club noted that their summer transfer activities balanced acquiring top-level players with efforts towards sustainable growth and success.
