CME Group plans to launch options on its Bitcoin Friday Futures (BFF) contracts on February 24, pending regulatory approval. These will be the first financially settled cryptocurrency options offered by CME, with expiries available every business day. Giovanni Vicioso, CME’s Global Head of Cryptocurrency Products, expressed excitement about providing traders with enhanced precision to manage short-term bitcoin price risk. The BFF contracts, priced at 1/50th of a bitcoin, aim to make trading more accessible and have garnered significant interest since their launch on September 30, with over 775,000 contracts traded, and a total trading volume of $1.63 billion.
