German Retail Sector Climate Deteriorates in September
BERLIN (Reuters) – The business climate in the German retail sector has dimmed in September, based on an Ifo survey published on Monday.
Retailers evaluated their current circumstances as somewhat worse than the previous month, expressing increased pessimism regarding the upcoming months, as indicated by the survey.
Ifo expert Patrick Hoeppner noted, “Consumers are unsettled about the economic policy environment. That means that no further dynamic growth in private consumer spending can be expected for the rest of 2024.”
