Upcoming Hardforks on Binance Chain

Changpeng Zhao, widely known as CZ in the crypto community, recently announced on social media the launch of a hardfork on the Binance Chain, scheduled for the end of March.

Pascal Hardfork on BNB Chain

CZ shared a post from the official Binance account on the X platform, detailing the upcoming upgrade which will introduce EIP-7702 smart contract wallets to the BNB Chain. This upgrade aims to enhance the compatibility of BNB Chain with the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) and increase flexibility for developers.

The EIP-7702 EVM upgrade has already been integrated into BNB Chain’s testnet as of February 25. The official post indicates that this upgrade is a significant advancement for the BNB Chain. The mainnet launch is on March 20, and it is crucial for validators, node operators, and crypto exchanges to upgrade to v1.5.7 by March 20 at 02:10 AM UTC to avoid issues with synchronization after the upgrade.

The EIP-7702 upgrade will allow wallets to temporarily perform functions of smart contracts, enhancing user experience with features such as gasless transactions, batch approvals, and simplified onboarding for newcomers to Web3.

After the Pascal hardfork, two additional upgrades are planned: the Lorentz hardfork in April and the Maxwell hardfork in June, which will reduce block generation times to 1.5 seconds and then to 0.75 seconds, respectively.

CZ Talks About His Book

In a recent revelation, CZ informed the BNB community about the writing of a book he alluded to during his prison time last year. He recently tweeted that he completed the first draft, totaling 114,000 words. Although he found writing the draft took longer than anticipated, he noted that it would likely take a much larger effort to revise it. He described the experience so far as a substantial self-expressive exercise.
