Mexico stocks higher at close of trade; S&P/BMV IPC up 1.61%

Mexico Stock Market Update

Investing.com – Mexico stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, with gains in the Industrials, Consumer Goods & Services, and Consumer Staples sectors leading shares upward.

At the close in Mexico, the S&P/BMV IPC added 1.61%.

Best Performers

  • Cemex SAB de CV (BMV:CEMEXCPO): +8.35% (0.89 points) at 11.55
  • GCC SAB de CV (BMV:GCC): +7.24% (12.02 points) at 178.14
  • Alfa, S.A.B. De C.V. (BMV:ALFAA): +4.90% (0.68 points) at 14.56

Worst Performers

  • Banco Del Bajio SA Institution De Banca Multiple (BMV:BBAJIOO): -1.68% (0.75 points) at 43.88
  • Controladora Vuela Compania de Aviacion SAB de CV (BMV:VOLARA): -1.53% (0.23 points) at 14.79
  • Becle SA (BMV:CUERVO): -1.50% (0.40 points) at 26.28

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Mexico Stock Exchange by 169 to 83, with 20 ending unchanged.

Shares in Becle SA (BMV:CUERVO) fell to 5-year lows, down 1.50% or 0.40 to 26.28.

Commodity Trading

  • Gold Futures for December delivery: -2.93% (80.60) to $2,669.10 a troy ounce.
  • Crude oil for December: -0.25% (0.18) at $71.81 a barrel.
  • January Brent oil contract: -0.60% (0.45) at $75.08 a barrel.

Currency Update

  • USD/MXN: -0.04% to 20.09
  • EUR/MXN: -1.91% to 21.56

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 1.65% at 105.03.
