Investing.com — Generative artificial intelligence solutions provider Zapata AI (NASDAQ: ZPTA) announced a partnership with independent defense contractor MAG Aerospace to develop foundational elements of an advanced airborne surveillance platform.

In a statement on Tuesday, Zapata highlighted that their collaboration with Virginia-based MAG will focus on creating next-generation equipment for intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance services. This gear will utilize advanced sensor fusion technology, leveraging real-time data processing to automate the acquisition, identification, and tracking of targets.

Both companies will also collaborate on software tailored for specific missions, alongside developing dynamic communication systems to enhance information sharing in contested environments.

Zapata AI emphasized that this partnership, which integrates its AI-driven enterprise solutions into MAG’s frameworks, represents a significant advancement in intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance. It aims to improve tactical decision-making in challenging operational contexts.

Christopher Savoie, CEO of Zapata AI, stated, “The partnership with MAG showcases how Zapata’s innovative approach to AI can solve complex, real-world challenges. We aim to push the boundaries of airborne ISR and assist MAG in meeting its mission objectives.”

Though Zapata AI did not disclose financial details, it noted that this partnership enhances its footprint in the US defense sector. The company already collaborates with the US Department of Defense research agency and the US Special Operations Command.

Founded at Harvard University’s computer science and quantum labs, Zapata AI went public earlier this year through a merger with a special purpose acquisition vehicle.

MAG Aerospace provides both manned and unmanned airborne outsourced ISR services across various markets, employing over 1,000 employees and operating more than 200 platforms with 100,000+ flight hours annually on six continents.
