Zach Witkoff Offers to Represent Ethereum at White House Crypto Summit

Zach Witkoff, the co-founder of the Trump family-linked World Liberty Financial, has offered to represent the Ethereum community at the inaugural White House Crypto Summit on March 7.

The event, hosted by the country’s AI and crypto czar, David Sacks, aims to provide regulatory clarity to help the U.S. retain blockchain talent and stimulate domestic crypto business. Eleanor Terrett, a Fox Business reporter, tweeted that invites were sent to industry leaders, but specifics about time and location were not disclosed.

Unclear Representation for Ethereum

While the summit is a significant step for U.S. involvement in crypto, some in the Ethereum community express concern about the lack of a direct representative at the event. Ethereum is vital to the crypto ecosystem and warrants representation, many argue.

Experts have noted that although Ethereum isn’t directly represented, many attendees are engaged with the network, providing indirect representation. Potential representatives include Chainlink, Coinbase, and Robinhood, all of whom have ties to Ethereum. Nonetheless, some believe a dedicated representative, like co-founder Vitalik Buterin, should attend.

Witkoff has expressed solidarity with the Ethereum community and is eager to discuss pertinent topics at the summit.

Attendance of Vitalik Buterin and the Ethereum Foundation Uncertain

Vitalik Buterin fits the guest profile; however, his past statements suggest he may abstain from the summit to maintain Ethereum’s political neutrality. He has previously emphasized distancing the Ethereum Foundation from political influence to preserve its vision. This stance likely precludes his attendance, as he aims to keep Ethereum free from partisanship.

Confirmed Attendees at the Crypto Summit

Confirmed attendees include Michael Saylor, David Bailey, Matt Huang, and JP Richardson, with a total guest limit of 20-25 participants in a roundtable format. The meeting will also feature members of the Presidential Working Group on Digital Assets. While confirmed guests include leaders from the crypto industry, others, such as Brad Garlinghouse, Paolo Ardoino, and potentially Buterin, remain unconfirmed.

Discussions at the summit may involve establishing a U.S. crypto reserve, stablecoin governance, tax incentives, and AI’s role in preventing crypto fraud.
