Vodafone and Google Expand Strategic Partnership
(Reuters) – Britain's Vodafone (NASDAQ:VOD) announced on Tuesday a deepened strategic partnership with Alphabet (NASDAQ:GOOGL) through a ten-year, billion dollar plus deal. This agreement will introduce Google’s new generative AI-powered devices to customers across Europe and Africa.
Vodafone plans to expand access to Google’s artificial intelligence-powered Pixel devices utilizing its 5G network in Europe and will continue to promote the Android ecosystem.
Global technology companies are competing to attract customers to upgrade their phones with new generative AI features. Major players like Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL), Google, and Samsung (KS:005930) are generating interest through a suite of visual, text, and audio features powered by AI.
By 2025, Vodafone will offer Google One AI Premium subscription plans, which include Gemini Advanced, in select countries. The partnership will also leverage Google Cloud’s enterprise-ready AI platform.
Google is currently engaged in an AI competition with companies such as OpenAI, which receives support from Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT) and NVIDIA (NASDAQ:NVDA).
