Legal Proceedings of FTX Executive Ryan Salame

U.S. prosecutors claim no breach occurred in the plea agreement with former FTX executive Ryan Salame, addressing accusations of misconduct regarding his partner, Michelle Bond.

Salame, who previously held a leadership position at FTX Digital Markets, pleaded guilty in September to conspiracy charges, including unlawful political contributions. Sentenced to seven and a half years in prison, he has been seeking a delay for urgent surgery following a dog attack, which was granted to be moved to October 13.

Michelle Bond faced charges for allegedly financing her 2022 U.S. House campaign with illicit funds. Salame accused the government of misconduct, claiming that plea negotiations involved coercion regarding Bond’s investigation.

Prosecutors, however, reaffirmed that the plea agreement did not encompass promises about Bond’s investigation and indicated that Salame was aware of ongoing proceedings against Bond before his sentencing. They stressed Salame failed to raise concerns beforehand or appeal the sentencing decision.

Details of Salame’s alleged misconduct, including using confidential information to facilitate account openings and bribing immigration authorities, were brought to light in court filings. Salame’s lawyers have yet to respond to these allegations.
