U.S. Department of Justice Considers Action Against Google
(Reuters) – The U.S. Department of Justice stated on Tuesday that it is contemplating requesting a judge to compel Alphabet (NASDAQ: GOOGL)'s Google to terminate exclusive agreements. These agreements were previously ruled by the court to have contributed to the company's monopoly in online search.
The Justice Department's comprehensive proposals represent the next phase in a pivotal case with the potential to transform how Americans search for information on the Internet. A judge determined that Google, which handles 90% of U.S. internet searches, had established an illegal monopoly.
Prosecutors are anticipated to submit a more detailed proposal to the court by November 20.
