    Toyota Donates to Inauguration

    By Nora Eckert

DETROIT (Reuters) – Toyota Motor (NYSE:TM) of North America is donating $1 million to President-elect Donald Trump's inaugural ceremony on Jan. 20, a company spokesman announced on Tuesday. This follows similar contributions from Detroit's Ford Motor (NYSE:F) and General Motors (NYSE:GM), both of which are also donating $1 million.

While Ford and GM are providing vehicles for the inauguration festivities, Toyota has stated it will not contribute vehicles.

The proposed tariffs by Trump on imports from Mexico and Canada could impact various automakers in North America, including Toyota, which manufactures the Toyota Tacoma pickup truck in Mexico. The incoming president's plans also include efforts to reverse several policies established by Democratic President Joe Biden regarding electric vehicles and emissions, as reported by Reuters.

Other major corporations, such as Amazon (NASDAQ:AMZN) and Facebook's parent company Meta Platforms (NASDAQ:META), have also made donations to the inauguration.
