Tonkeeper Pro Upgrades to Support USDT TRC20 Tokens
Tonkeeper Pro, the enhanced version of the popular self-custody wallet for The Open Network (TON) blockchain, now supports Tether (USDT) TRC20 tokens without requiring Tron (TRX), according to recent updates shared with Finbold on March 14.
Thanks to the integration of Tonkeeper Battery, users can now cover transaction fees using either TON or USDT, including through in-app purchases on iOS and Android.
To utilize the new TRC20 feature, users must open their Tonkeeper Pro desktop wallet, go to ‘Settings,’ and activate the option.
Simplifying Crypto Transactions
Tonkeeper Battery functions as a prepaid service within the wallet, enabling users to load credits that automatically manage transfer fees. Users can top up their Battery using various supported tokens or directly with a bank card through in-app purchases.
Oleg Andreev, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) at Tonkeeper, summarized the integration’s benefits, stating:
> “The mission of Tonkeeper is to make crypto payments easy for everyone and everything. With USDT-TRC20 support in Tonkeeper Pro, users can make USDT payments without holding TRX: fees are covered by Tonkeeper Battery. Support for USDT-TRC20 facilitates a smoother transition to USDT on TON, where fees are significantly lower.”
Positioning Tonkeeper Pro as a Payments-First Wallet
With the addition of USDT TRC20 support, users no longer need to hold TRX for network fees, reinforcing Tonkeeper Pro’s status as a payments-first wallet.
Traditionally, using Tron-based USDT transfers meant managing energy and bandwidth fees, often requiring TRX to cover costs. Tonkeeper Battery streamlines this process by automatically estimating transaction requirements and covering them without the need for TRX, supporting Tonkeeper Pro’s mission to enhance the efficiency and accessibility of digital transactions.
