Tether CEO Responds to Investigation Reports
(Reuters) – Tether CEO Paolo Adroino stated on Friday that there was "no indication" of any ongoing investigation into the cryptocurrency firm. This response follows a media report suggesting that the federal government was probing Tether.
The Wall Street Journal reported that the investigation involves potential violations of sanctions and anti-money-laundering regulations, citing sources familiar with the situation.
According to WSJ, the criminal investigation into Tether is being conducted by prosecutors at the Manhattan U.S. attorney's office. However, a spokesperson for the U.S. attorney's office in Manhattan declined to comment, and a spokesperson for the Treasury Department's Financial Crimes Enforcement Network did not respond to inquiries regarding the matter.
