Tech CEOs Congratulate President Trump
Following election night’s overwhelming victory for President Donald Trump, tech CEOs across Silicon Valley expressed their congratulations to the president-elect.
Jeff Bezos
Amazon.com (NASDAQ:AMZN) founder Jeff Bezos was among the first to respond. He stated, "Big congratulations to our 45th and now 47th President on an extraordinary political comeback and decisive victory." Bezos added, "No nation has bigger opportunities. Wishing @realDonaldTrump all success in leading and uniting the America we all love." However, he faced criticism for his op-ed in the Washington Post, which announced that the paper would not endorse a presidential candidate, breaking with tradition. Bezos explained, "Americans don’t trust the news media."
Sundar Pichai
Sundar Pichai, the CEO of Google parent Alphabet (NASDAQ:GOOGL), called Trump’s victory “decisive.” He remarked, "We are in a golden age of American innovation and are committed to working with his administration to help bring the benefits to everyone."
Sam Altman
OpenAI’s Sam Altman expressed his congratulations, saying, "Congrats to President Trump." He emphasized the importance of the U.S. maintaining its AI leadership and democratic values.
Tim Cook
Apple's (NASDAQ:AAPL) Tim Cook also congratulated Trump, stating, "Congratulations President Trump on your victory! We look forward to engaging with you and your administration to help make sure the United States continues to lead with and be fueled by ingenuity, innovation, and creativity."
Elon Musk
Tesla's (NASDAQ:TSLA) CEO Elon Musk congratulated Trump in person and received praise from the new President on election night. Musk's support played a role in securing a victory in battleground Pennsylvania.
Following Trump's win, Tesla shares surged by 14% in afternoon trading, with tech stocks broadly higher.
