Partnership Announcement
Swiss equity token specialist Aktionariat AG has partnered with Taurus SA, a securities firm, as announced on Thursday.
Agreement Details
Under the agreement, Taurus will provide services for select Ethereum-based tokenized shares issued by Aktionariat. In exchange, Aktionariat will offer its client companies a pathway to list on the Taurus Digital eXchange (TDX). The collaborative project is set to launch in November.
Strategic Benefits
“This collaboration unites Aktionariat’s expertise in tokenizing Swiss companies’ equity with Taurus’ institutional-grade trading technology. It aims to enhance liquidity and unlock value for tokenized small and medium-sized enterprises and their shareholders by connecting them to TDX’s network of banks, professional investors, and retail clients,” the firms stated.
Understanding Security Tokens
A security token is a form of cryptocurrency representing fractions of assets that hold real-world value, including equity in companies, real estate, and bonds. Token owners hold a stake in the asset with claims on its profits, although there are legal uncertainties surrounding such tokens.
Initial Users
Among the first to utilize this shared platform is RealUnit, a crypto-focused investment firm that tokenized its shares with Aktionariat in April 2022 on Ethereum. Investors can opt between classic bearer shares and tokenized shares, which is claimed to be a first for Switzerland.
Dani Stüssi, CEO of RealUnit Schweiz AG, stated, “Being admitted to trade on TDX is a natural next step in our journey to increase accessibility and liquidity for our investors.”
About Aktionariat and Taurus
Aktionariat is a fintech firm using blockchain technology to connect investors and startups, alongside tools like Brokerbot, which helps companies market digitized shares, a portfolio app for crypto purchases, and ERC-20-based security tokens. Taurus is a blockchain infrastructure company focusing on managing tokenized real-world assets.
“This collaboration aligns with Taurus’ broader vision of digitizing private markets and enhancing accessibility to private equity for investors. The aim is to make buying a private security as straightforward as purchasing a book online, whether it’s equity, debt, or assets like funds and real estate,” the firms concluded.
