Stellantis Extends Production Stoppage at Mirafiori Plant

ROME (Reuters) – Stellantis (NYSE:STLA) will extend the stoppage of car production at its Italian Mirafiori plant by a further two weeks, until Jan. 20, according to the head of the FIOM-Cgil trade union at the site, Gianni Mannori.

Mannori informed Reuters that this decision, first reported by daily MF, has not yet been officially confirmed by the company. A Stellantis spokesperson was not immediately available for comment.

The Mirafiori plant, located in Fiat's (BIT:STLAM) hometown of Turin, has experienced multiple production stoppages this year, attributed to low demand for the electric Fiat 500 city car and the two Maserati sports models manufactured there.

At the end of last month, Stellantis announced that assembly lines would be paused for all of December and until Jan. 5 due to "continuing uncertainty in sales" for electric vehicles in Europe as well as luxury cars in China and the U.S.
