Stellantis Reinstates Timothy Kuniskis as CEO of Ram
By Nora Eckert
DETROIT (Reuters) – Stellantis' former head of Ram, Timothy Kuniskis, is returning to the company just months after his retirement. This decision comes as the automaker seeks to strengthen its leadership team following CEO Carlos Tavares' unexpected resignation.
On Monday, Stellantis confirmed Kuniskis would resume his position as CEO of Ram, a crucial brand, which has experienced a 24% decline in U.S. sales through the third quarter of 2024.
A company spokeswoman stated, "Today’s changes will enable us to operate in a structure that will drive the best outcomes for the region, unlock significant potential and win in the market. A main lever is for the Ram brand to have its CEO singularly focused on that brand."
Stellantis is working to turn around its declining sales and profits, notably in its historically profitable North American sector. The automaker's shares have dropped about 37% in 2024, even as the broader market has seen growth.
Chairman John Elkann is leading an interim executive committee while Stellantis searches for a new CEO. A replacement for Tavares is expected to be chosen in the first half of 2025.
Christine Feuell, who succeeded Kuniskis when he retired, will continue to lead Stellantis' Chrysler brand alongside Alfa Romeo North America.
CNBC previously reported that Kuniskis would return to Stellantis.
