U.S. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer at Crypto4Harris Town Hall

U.S. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer will speak at a town hall on Wednesday hosted by Crypto4Harris, an organization seeking to strengthen crypto’s connection to presidential candidate and current Vice President Kamala Harris.

The New York Democrat will join crypto insiders and lawmakers at 8 p.m. ET, as reported by Politico.

Crypto4Harris describes itself as a grassroots network of crypto advocates focused on organizing, fundraising, and crafting a comprehensive crypto policy for the Harris For President campaign. Notable figures speaking at the town hall include Reps. Ritchie Torres (D-N.Y.), Wiley Nickel (D-N.C.), Adam Schiff (D-Calif.), Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y.), along with Crypto Council for Innovation CEO Sheila Warren, billionaire Mark Cuban, and former Trump White House Communications Director Anthony Scaramucci.

In July, Schumer was among several Democrats to vote for a resolution to overturn Staff Accounting Bulletin 121 (SAB 121), which has sparked controversy within the crypto community regarding banks’ ability to safeguard digital assets. Schumer has also advocated for the Senate to pass a crypto bill.

Crypto has gained prominence in the upcoming election cycle, with significant funding directed to super PACs, and Donald Trump promising to end what he calls an “unlawful and un-American crackdown” on the U.S. crypto industry. Trump has also partnered with crypto-friendly J.D. Vance and expressed support for bitcoin miners.

Conversely, candidate Harris has started reaching out to the crypto industry, aiming to learn more about the sector, although she has yet to publicly express her stance on crypto.

Update: Aug. 14, 2:55 p.m. UTC to confirm that Sen. Gillibrand will also speak.
