RippleX Unveils XRPL DeFi Roadmap: Will it Attract Institutional Capital?

cryptonews.net 22/09/2025 - 15:47 PM

RippleX has announced the next phase of its XRPL Institutional DeFi roadmap, focusing on compliance, lending, and privacy, indicating a strong effort to onboard regulated players onto the blockchain.

RippleX is Ripple’s developer and innovation arm, promoting the XRPL (XRP Ledger) ecosystem, funding projects, and developing features such as tokenization and DeFi tooling.

Roadmap Highlights

The roadmap highlights three pillars for growth: first, compliance features like Credentials and Deep Freeze, which are already live; second, a native lending protocol set to launch with XRPL Version 3.0.0 later this year; and third, ongoing development of zero-knowledge proof (ZKP) integrations to facilitate confidential transactions while satisfying regulatory demands. RippleX anticipates confidential Multi-Purpose Tokens (MPTs) will be available by early 2026.

XRPL has seen over $1 billion in monthly stablecoin volume, now ranking among the top 10 chains for real-world asset activity. RippleX perceives these achievements as validation of the rapid scaling of institutional DeFi.

> “This momentum highlights XRPL’s evolution into a leading blockchain for real-world finance, poised to support two critical use cases in global markets: stablecoin payments and collateral management, with tokenization as the foundational element. What started as an ambitious vision for regulated on-chain finance is swiftly becoming industry standard,” said RippleX in a press release shared with BeInCrypto.

This transition aligns with trends in tokenization markets. Recent reports indicated that the US Department of Commerce aims to place macroeconomic data, such as GDP and PCE Index, on the blockchain, illustrating the escalating mainstream acceptance of digital assets. XRPL’s Multi-Purpose Token (MPT) standard is part of this movement, designed to equip issuers for regulated on-chain finance.

Previously, we covered the emergence of compliance-first DeFi platforms. Ripple’s permissioned DEX was a prime example of blockchain adaptations to regulatory pressures. The new roadmap continues this trend, with Credentials and Deep Freeze enhancing XRPL’s compliance focus.

The Challenge Ahead

However, Ethereum and its Layer 2 solutions continue to dominate the DeFi landscape, with Solana and Avalanche also pursuing tokenization and institutional adoption. RippleX must demonstrate that its compliance-centric strategy can effectively attract liquidity.

The next major challenge is the lending protocol; if successful, it could pave the way for low-cost, compliant credit markets at scale. However, institutional commitments will depend on achieving adequate liquidity.

RippleX has positioned institutional DeFi as central to XRPL’s future. The roadmap reflects a robust strategy centered on compliance, credit, and confidentiality, and the next year will reveal whether institutions will embrace it.
