The White House Crypto Summit
The White House held its first-ever “crypto summit” on Friday, where several industry leaders met to discuss the Trump administration’s steps towards crypto regulatory clarity.
Among the attendees was Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse, who expressed satisfaction with the administration’s support. In a post on X, he described the discussions between President Trump and Crypto Czar David Sacks on regulatory frameworks as “weeks that feel like months.”
Ripple CEO: We Need a Level Playing Field
Garlinghouse criticized the Securities and Exchange Commission’s legal actions against Ripple and emphasized the need for collaboration within the industry. He stated, “We will, as we’ve always done, continue to champion the need for a level playing field.” He thanked several officials, including Trump and Sacks, for hosting the “historic summit.”
Praise for Trump’s Leadership in Crypto
Post-summit, key figures voiced their approval of Trump’s approach to digital assets. David Sacks commented on Trump’s dedication to serving the American people and supporting innovators. He praised Trump’s commitment to moving swiftly regarding crypto policies and highlighted an executive order directing Treasury and Commerce Departments to develop non-taxpayer funded strategies for accumulating Bitcoin and other digital assets.
US President’s Message to the Crypto Community
Trump signaled a commitment to crypto by stating, “From this day on, America will follow the rule that every Bitcoin owner knows very well: never sell your Bitcoin.” Despite the optimistic tone of the summit, Bitcoin’s price remained largely unchanged, trading at $86,247, down by 2% according to CoinGecko data.
