Data Release: Ripple Resumes Minting RLUSD

Data from the Ripple Stablecoin Tracker on X indicates that Ripple has resumed minting Ripple USD (RLUSD) stablecoins after a break of over two weeks.

Three significant mints by Ripple Treasury were recorded on the last day of this hiatus:

9.1 Million RLUSD Minted After Long Break

On Thursday, Ripple minted three batches of stablecoins: 3,100,000 RLUSD, 4,000,000 RLUSD, and 2,000,000 RLUSD. The last batch was minted five hours ago:

The 3.1 million batch was the first minted after a seventeen-day break. Prior to this, Ripple issued 625,000 RLUSD on February 10, followed by the pause. Interestingly, while 3,100,000 RLUSD were minted on the XRP ledger, the other two batches were issued on the Ethereum network. These are currently the only two blockchains supporting RLUSD. Notably, Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson mentioned ongoing discussions with the Ripple USD team to integrate RLUSD onto the Cardano network as well.

RLUSD currently ranks 513th on CoinMarketCap with a market capitalization of $53.1 million. In the past 24 hours, its trading volume surged by 36.42% as the market reacted to Ripple’s resumption of minting.

XRP Network Activity Declines 50%

Recent data revealed a significant decline in XRP network activity, with a drop of approximately 50% over the past three months. Analysts noted that active XRP wallets fell from 202,250 in December to 101,160 now. This decrease coincided with reduced demand for remittances and transactions, as highlighted by a sudden drop in transaction volume on the XRP ledger, which shrank by 1 million transfers at the end of January, followed by a spike of 2,054,526 transactions on February 25.
