Portugal Stocks Decline

Investing.com – Portugal stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Consumer Services, Technology, and Utilities sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Lisbon, the PSI fell 0.28% to hit a new 6-months low.

Best Performers

The best performers of the session on the PSI were:
CTT Correios de Portugal SA (ELI:CTT): rose 2.97% or 0.14 points to trade at 4.68.
Mota Engil SGPS SA (ELI:MOTA): added 2.20% or 0.06 points to end at 2.79.
Banco Comercial Portugues (ELI:BCP): up 1.39% or 0.01 points to 0.45 in late trade.

Worst Performers

The worst performers were:
Jeronimo Martins SGPS SA (ELI:JMT): fell 1.83% or 0.34 points to trade at 18.19.
Altri SGPS SA (ELI:ALSS): declined 1.35% or 0.07 points to end at 5.12.
EDP Energias de Portugal SA (ELI:EDP): down 1.22% or 0.04 points to 3.16.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Lisbon Stock Exchange by 16 to 12, with 4 ending unchanged.

Shares in EDP Energias de Portugal SA (ELI:EDP) fell to 3-year lows, losing 1.22% or 0.04 to 3.16.

Commodities

  • Brent oil for February delivery was up 1.00% or 0.73 to $73.92 a barrel.
  • Crude oil for January rose 0.60% or 0.42 to hit $70.50 a barrel.
  • February Gold Futures contract fell 0.37% or 9.90 to trade at $2,652.10 a troy ounce.
