Portugal Stock Market Update

Investing.com – Portugal stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Consumer Services, Basic Materials, and Telecoms sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Lisbon, the PSI gained 0.29%.

Best Performers

The best performers of the session on the PSI were:
– Galp Energia Nom (ELI:GALP): rose 2.01% or 0.33 points to trade at 16.72.
– Mota Engil SGPS SA (ELI:MOTA): added 1.45% or 0.04 points to end at 2.66.
– Jeronimo Martins SGPS SA (ELI:JMT): was up 1.19% or 0.22 points to 18.67 in late trade.

Worst Performers

The worst performers of the session were:
– EDP Energias de Portugal SA (ELI:EDP): fell 1.41% or 0.05 points to trade at 3.22.
– CTT Correios de Portugal SA (ELI:CTT): declined 1.19% or 0.06 points to end at 4.55.
– Ren Redes Energeticas Nacionais SGPS SA (ELI:RENE): down 1.05% or 0.03 points to 2.36.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Lisbon Stock Exchange by 12 to 11, with 5 ending unchanged.

Shares in EDP Energias de Portugal SA (ELI:EDP) fell to 3-year lows, down 1.41% or 0.05 to 3.22.

Commodities Update

Brent oil for February delivery was up 1.63% or $1.16, reaching $72.28 a barrel. Crude oil for January rose 1.89% or $1.27 to hit $68.47 a barrel, while February Gold Futures increased 1.15% or $30.51 to trade at $2,690.11 a troy ounce.

Currency Update

EUR/USD remained unchanged, up 0.01% to 1.06, while EUR/GBP was unchanged, up 0.24% to 0.83.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.05% at 105.68.
