CD Projekt Teases New Game in The Witcher Series

GDANSK (Reuters) – Poland's biggest video game maker CD Projekt released a trailer for the anticipated new game in the blockbuster "Witcher" fantasy series on Friday.

Following the troubled release of their previous title, "Cyberpunk," CD Projekt has been cautious not to disclose when "The Witcher IV," which is currently in full-scale production, will be launched.

The new single-player role-playing game serves as a successor to "The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt," further expanding the medieval fantasy franchise that has sold over 75 million copies since the debut of the first game in 2007.

CD Projekt stated, "The Witcher IV aims to be the most immersive and ambitious open-world Witcher game to date."

The story will focus on Ciri, the adopted daughter of Geralt of Rivia, the protagonist from previous titles in the series.

Analysts predict the game may release in 2026 or 2027, leaving CD Projekt without a significant earnings driver until then.

Developed utilizing customized Unreal Engine 5 technology, the six-minute trailer showcases the game's target quality.

Erste Group analyst Piotr Bogusz noted that interest in the trailer is relatively high and it has received largely positive ratings.
