OKX Racer Launches

OKX, a leading crypto exchange by trading volume, has introduced OKX Racer, a free-to-play mini-app game on Telegram that challenges players to predict bitcoin’s price movements in five-second intervals.

As the first major centralized crypto exchange to launch a Telegram mini-app, OKX capitalizes on the platform’s growing popularity for tap-to-earn games, connecting with its 900 million users. Other notable games on Telegram include Hamster Kombat, Notcoin, and Yescoin, which allow users to earn crypto via the TON blockchain.

Gameplay Overview

In OKX Racer, players choose whether bitcoin’s price will “moon” (rise) or “doom” (fall) within five seconds. Correct guesses earn players points and consecutive correct answers enhance points through multipliers. Additionally, players can earn referral rewards and utilize points for in-game upgrades. Jason Lau, OKX’s Chief Innovation Officer, expressed excitement about engaging the crypto community through user-friendly platforms.

Incentives and Future Plans

While OKX has not specified any incentive model for the game, typical motivation stems from potential airdrops for points holders tied to game-related tokens on the TON blockchain. For instance, Notcoin distributed over 80 billion TON-based tokens to its players in May.

OKX Racer joins a crowded field of bitcoin price prediction games, similar to a 2019 offering from Solana-based platform Hxro.

Last week, Telegram CEO Pavel Durov shared plans to enhance blockchain-related features on the platform, including a mini app store and web3 support, signaling a significant shift in public awareness of blockchain technology in 2024, with Telegram at the forefront of this evolution.
