Off The Grid, a cyberpunk-themed battle royale video game, is currently in early release and has achieved the #1 rank among free-to-play games on the Epic Games Store, surpassing popular titles like Fortnite and Genshin Impact. As of Sunday, it ranks around #11 on the store and is also available for PlayStation and Xbox consoles.

Development
Co-created by filmmaker Neil Blomkamp, known for sci-fi films such as District 9 and Elysium, the game has gained traction on Twitch thanks to collaborations with streamers like Tyler "Ninja" Blevins, featuring a cosmetic skin modeled after him, as well as Dr. Disrespect. Currently, it holds the #32 spot in popularity among all Twitch streams, per TwitchTracker.

Digital Economy
The game operates on GUNZ, a blockchain digital economy created by developer Gunzilla, which is currently in a testnet phase. The press release states that this Avalanche Subnet is tailored for seamless gameplay, utilizes in-game tokens for gas fees, and offers an engaging experience for both Web3 and traditional gamers.

Gameplay Features
Players can utilize the GUN in-game token for purchasing and trading items, which are represented as NFTs, ensuring players have complete ownership of these items. Although the crypto features are not fully live yet, the token serves as an in-game currency.

Future Developments
Gunzilla aims to open up the GUNZ SDK and components, including a companion app and marketplace, for other gaming studios to launch projects on the GUNZ network. More announcements regarding future projects are anticipated soon.
