Nvidia and SoftBank Pilot AI-5G Network
TOKYO (Reuters) – Leading chipmaker Nvidia (NASDAQ: NVDA) and SoftBank Corp (TYO: 9984), the telecommunications arm of SoftBank Group, announced on Wednesday the successful piloting of the world's first artificial intelligence and 5G telecoms network.
The new network can operate AI and 5G workloads simultaneously, a process termed as artificial intelligence radio access network (AI-RAN).
Potential applications for this innovative network include remote support for autonomous vehicles and control of robotics.
Nvidia's founder and CEO, Jensen Huang, revealed that SoftBank is the first company to receive the latest Blackwell chip designs, which are being integrated into SoftBank's AI supercomputer for developing its own generative AI model.
