Notcoin Launches New Story-Driven Telegram Game
Notcoin has debuted a new story-driven Telegram game, "Lost Dogs," in collaboration with the TON social projects team, Lost Dogs Co, and the NFT trading platform, Getgems.
Background
Notcoin is known for pioneering the clicker tap-to-earn model, attracting approximately 35 million players. Users earn in-game currency with simple taps, which later evolved into a $1 billion NOT token airdrop on the TON blockchain. The NOT token currently boasts a market cap of $1.3 billion, as reported on The Block’s Notcoin price page.
While other clicker-style Telegram games like Hamster Kombat, Yescoin, and Catizen have emerged, Notcoin has shifted away from the tap-to-earn model due to sustainability concerns, officially ending the mining phase on April 1.
New Gameplay in "Lost Dogs"
The newly launched free-to-play game, "Lost Dogs," departs from the tap-to-earn mechanics. Players will engage in a dog-themed quest, forming communities, known as "squads," inviting others, and voting on the actions their dogs take to find homes. Decisions made will significantly affect the narrative and the dogs' journeys, bringing ethical implications into play.
Characters in the game are represented by Lost Dogs NFTs, which were initially launched on Getgems in March 2023, and will evolve throughout the gameplay, gaining new powers and becoming notable figures within the game.
Getgems founder Vanya remarked, "Our goal is to demonstrate how NFTs can build and communicate narratives, driving mass adoption through innovative storytelling and gameplay." This game is just the beginning of Notcoin's venture into interactive blockchain experiences.
Rewards System
Players of "Lost Dogs" can earn Notcoins and a new in-game currency called WOOF by participating in daily decision-making. The winning decision is based on popularity among players. Successful players can earn shares of NOT tokens and can mine WOOF through game actions.
Unlike perpetual mining games, "Lost Dogs" will run for six weeks, with further collaborations planned.
Plotvinov characterized "Lost Dogs" as a "gamified experience," where daily choices will shape each player's unique story within the magical dog world.
Support and Future Outlook
The Open Platform (TOP), a Web3 venture capital firm, co-founded Notcoin and Getgems and is backing the "Lost Dogs" game. TOP has also invested in game developers like Akedo Games and PLUTO Studio to nurture further Telegram games in the TON blockchain ecosystem.
Mad Tail, Chief Barking Officer at Lost Dogs Co, expressed enthusiasm about the project's creative possibilities, stating, "We're just stray dogs who come up with many ideas during our walks. What are ideas without implementation? Empty barking." He emphasized the goal of creating a world brimming with excitement, challenges, and opportunities for players using Notcoins and WOOF.
