Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Stoere expressed concerns regarding billionaire Elon Musk’s involvement in global political matters.

Musk, a known ally of U.S. President-elect Donald Trump, recently endorsed a German anti-immigration party ahead of their parliamentary elections set for February. He has also made headlines by demanding the resignation of British Prime Minister Keir Starmer.

Stoere voiced his worries during an interview with Norwegian broadcaster NRK, noting that it is troubling for someone with significant social media reach and economic influence to meddle in the internal affairs of other nations. He emphasized that these actions disrupt the expected relations between democracies and their allies.

The Prime Minister stated that if Musk were to engage in Norwegian politics, political leaders in Norway should collectively reject such interference.

Stoere’s minority government, which includes his leftist Labour Party and the smaller Centre Party, has fallen behind right-wing parties in recent polls with parliamentary elections approaching in September. Nonetheless, Stoere affirmed his commitment to lead his party into the elections, countering suggestions from some members to resign. He expressed his determination to continue as party leader and prime minister to secure electoral victory.

Musk, recognized as the world’s richest person, previously invested over $250 million to aid Trump’s election and serves as a special adviser on budget issues. Recently, the German government criticized Musk for his attempts to influence their forthcoming election through a guest opinion piece in the Welt am Sonntag newspaper.

German Vice Chancellor Robert Habeck described Musk’s endorsement of Germany’s far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) as a calculated strategy aimed at weakening Europe’s regulatory capabilities.
