MakerDAO’s Handle Reclaimed by Foresight News Journalist
A journalist at Foresight News confirmed they picked up MakerDAO’s original handle on the social media platform X during its rebrand to Sky.
The journalist noticed the company’s name had changed, but its handle remained the same, as stated in an article they wrote for Foresight News. Seeking to see if they could reclaim the MakerDAO handle if it was discarded, they attempted to change their handle to it—and succeeded.
This was likely accomplished within a very limited timeframe. “As far as I understand, there was actually a team sitting ready to do exactly this,” said Sky founder Rune Christensen.
The anonymous journalist, which is common among Chinese media, plans to retain the handle for their account, using it to drive traffic to Foresight News.
“As for the account, I prefer to keep it. On one hand, as a crypto practitioner and DeFi enthusiast, this unique username holds collectible value; on the other hand, it could attract more traffic, which is important for media professionals,” they explained.
They also mentioned that the Sky team has reached out to them seeking to regain control of the handle, and that discussions are ongoing.
