Japan Stock Market Update
Investing.com – Japan stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Paper & Pulp, Rubber, and Transportation Equipment sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 fell 0.77%.
Best Performers
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were:
– Hino Motors, Ltd. (TYO:7205): rose 2.61% (14.40 points) to trade at 566.00.
– Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, Ltd. (TYO:9107): added 2.29% (50.50 points) to end at 2,254.50.
– Tokai Carbon Co., Ltd. (TYO:5301): up 1.97% (17.70 points) to 916.80.
Worst Performers
The worst performers were:
– Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. (TYO:7201): fell 5.73% (29.20 points) to trade at 480.00.
– Japan Steel Works Ltd (TYO:5631): declined 4.94% (300.00 points) to end at 5,778.00.
– Mitsubishi Motors Corp. (TYO:7211): down 3.18% (17.50 points) to 532.60.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2067 to 1625, with 203 unchanged.
Shares in Hino Motors, Ltd. rose to 52-week highs; gaining 2.61% (14.40 points) to 566.00.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was up 0.73% to 20.80.
Commodity Prices
- Crude oil for February delivery was down 0.16% (0.11) to $70.49 a barrel.
- Brent oil for March delivery fell 0.16% (0.12) to $73.67 a barrel.
- February Gold Futures contract fell 0.10% (2.60) to trade at $2,629.30 a troy ounce.
Exchange Rates
- USD/JPY was up 0.01% to 157.84.
- EUR/JPY rose 0.04% to 164.62.
- The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.02% at 107.78.
