Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Capital Goods, Power, and Public Sector Undertakings sectors led shares higher.

At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 added 0.88%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index climbed 0.72%.

The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were:
Adani Enterprises Ltd (NS:ADEL): rose 4.73% (142.70 points) to trade at 3,160.70.
Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd (NS:APSE): added 4.67% (63.35 points) to end at 1,418.55.
Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (NS:MAHM): up 3.45% (105.65 points) to 3,165.85.

The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were:
Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:MAHM): rose 3.48% to 3,167.70.
Reliance Industries Ltd (BO:RELI): up 2.12% to settle at 2,799.00.

Market Overview

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 2091 to 405 and 90 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2881 rose, 884 declined, while 96 ended unchanged.

The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 2.82% to 14.65.

Commodity Markets

  • Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.17% (4.45) to $2,661.55 a troy ounce.
  • Crude oil for delivery in November fell 2.09% (1.61) to hit $75.53 a barrel.
  • The December Brent oil contract fell 2.00% (1.62) to trade at $79.31 a barrel.

Exchange Rates:
USD/INR was down 0.04% to 83.96.
EUR/INR rose 0.09% to 92.26.
– The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.15% at 102.14.
