Indian Stock Market Update

Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Banking, Consumer Durables, and IT sectors led shares higher.

At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 added 0.34%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index climbed 0.46%.

Top Performers

• Nifty 50:

  • Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (NS:HLL) rose 2.85% or 81.05 points to trade at 2,920.00.
  • ICICI Bank Ltd (NS:ICBK) added 2.38% or 28.80 points to end at 1,236.95.
  • Shriram Finance Ltd. (NS:SHMF) was up 2.30% or 74.50 points to 3,310.15.

• BSE Sensex 30:

  • Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (BO:HLL) rose 2.84% to 2,919.00.
  • ICICI Bank Ltd (BO:ICBK) was up 2.03% to settle at 1,233.00.
  • ITC Ltd (BO:ITC) gained 1.95% to close at 511.45.

Worst Performers

• Nifty 50:

  • Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (NS:ONGC) fell 2.96% or 9.15 points to trade at 299.65.
  • Tech Mahindra Ltd (NS:TEML) declined 2.48% or 40.25 points to end at 1,583.00.
  • Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd. (NS:BPCL) was down 1.26% or 4.45 points to 347.70.

• BSE Sensex 30:

  • Tech Mahindra Ltd (BO:TEML) was down 2.54% to 1,582.20.
  • Tata Steel Ltd (BO:TISC) lost 1.16% to settle at 149.50.
  • NTPC Ltd (BO:NTPC) was down 1.10% to 390.80.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1529 to 965. On the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2291 fell and 1581 advanced.

Shares in Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (NS:HLL) and Shriram Finance Ltd. (NS:SHMF) rose to all-time highs.

The India VIX, measuring the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 6.67% to 14.20.

Commodities and Currency

• Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.03% to $2,523.90 per ounce.
• Crude oil for October delivery rose 0.72% to $68.16 per barrel.
• USD/INR was down 0.04% to 83.96, while EUR/INR fell 0.42% to 92.71.
• The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.48% at 101.63.
