Cardano Founder Challenges Criticism on Blockchain Achievements

Charles Hoskinson, founder of Cardano, publicly contested claims that the blockchain solution has not achieved anything significant.

Hoskinson responded to a post on X, questioning whether the critic’s assertion about Cardano’s lack of accomplishments was fair.

> Why do you feel Cardano has no achievements? Is that really a fair statement? What basis are you making it?
> — Charles Hoskinson (@IOHK_Charles) March 26, 2025

The critique from a crypto user was a comment on a post featuring Hoskinson during his time as CEO of Ethereum. In 2014, he had expressed admiration for Ethereum, referring to it as “Oil” in the cryptocurrency ecosystem, while categorizing Bitcoin as “Gold.”

Hoskinson’s Vision for Ethereum in 2014

Hoskinson noted that the original founders of Ethereum creatively integrated a programming language with a blockchain foundation. They built an additional layer on this primary blockchain, aiming to establish it as an operating system for the entire cryptocurrency agenda.

In 2014, Hoskinson articulated that Ethereum’s goal was to allow developers to easily install applications on the Ethereum blockchain with a simple, one-click process.

He quickly dismissed the idea of Ethereum being merely “Bitcoin 2.0,” describing it instead as the next stage in a series of experiments that began with Bitcoin’s inception in 2009. Hoskinson viewed Ethereum as addressing the functionality gaps in the cryptocurrency realm back then.

Transition from Ethereum to Creating Cardano

Eventually, Hoskinson left Ethereum to create Cardano, envisioning it as a more scalable and open-source transaction platform. Cardano officially launched in 2017 after its development commenced in 2015. Both Cardano and Ethereum have undergone significant changes and upgrades since their launches, with members of their respective communities frequently debating which platform holds superiority.

Increased Criticism Facing Cardano

Recently, Cardano has faced heightened scrutiny, particularly in the U.S. This attention follows American regulators classifying ADA, Cardano’s native cryptocurrency, as an unregistered security. In light of this regulatory pressure and subsequent criticism, Hoskinson has been actively defending Cardano and promoting its achievements.
