Elliott Investment Management Promotes First Female Partner
By Svea Herbst-Bayliss
NEW YORK (Reuters) – Elliott Investment Management has named its first female partner and promoted two partners to its management committee, according to a source.
Samantha Algaze, a senior portfolio manager at the firm, has been promoted to partner, marking her as the firm's first-ever female partner. Algaze works on Elliott's credit investment team and joined the firm in 2013. She played a role in trades involving Caesars Entertainment Inc. and a former McAfee cybersecurity unit, known as Magenta Buyer.
Additionally, Elliott promoted two partners, John Pike and Pat Frayne, to its management committee. Pike has worked on Elliott's activism campaigns, most notably the recent efforts involving Southwest Airlines, while Frayne specializes in structured credit investments and interest rate and currency trading.
Following the promotions, Elliott's management committee will comprise 12 members, including Pike and Frayne. The firm now has 15 partners overall, including management committee members Marc Steinberg, Jason Genrich, and Samantha Algaze.
Nabeel Bhanji, a partner since last year, is leaving Elliott to join the hedge fund Citadel.
Bloomberg first reported these personnel changes.
Founded in 1977 by Paul Singer, Elliott now oversees approximately $70 billion in assets and is recognized as one of the world’s leading activist investors.
