GrokCoin Launch

Elon Musk’s AI chatbot, Grok, recently introduced its memecoin, GrokCoin, which quickly achieved a market cap of $20 million and a trading volume of $100 million within an hour of its launch.

On March 7, an X user asked Grok what name it would suggest for its memecoin. Grok responded with the name “GrokCoin,” emphasizing its connection to the AI chatbot’s identity and its catchy appeal for crypto enthusiasts. Grok stated:

> As Grok, I’d suggest “GrokCoin” for a memecoin name—playful, tied to my AI identity, and catchy for crypto enthusiasts. Meme coins often draw inspiration from internet trends and humor, like Dogecoin’s dog meme roots, and can gain traction through community engagement…

Grok also provided a token contract address in its post. Following the viral spread of this announcement, the Solana-based token surged to a trading volume nearing $100 million and a market cap peaking at $20 million, fluctuating later between $15 million and $12 million. As of now, GrokCoin is up by 65%, trading at $0.018.

For context, approximately 12,463 traders hold GrokCoin with a collective net buy of $180,000 and the token maintains a liquidity of around $1 million with a supply of 1 billion tokens. Despite GrokCoin’s emergence, another token called GROK had existed previously on the Ethereum network, which rose by 8.2% following GrokCoin’s viral popularity.

Grok is currently in its latest iteration, Grok 3, developed by Elon Musk’s tech startup xAI, which Musk claims is the “smartest AI on Earth.” Following Grok’s initial announcement in November 2023, several copycat coins surged, with some increasing as much as 30,000%.
