General Motors Recall Announcement
(Reuters) – General Motors will recall 461,839 vehicles due to a transmission issue, as reported by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) on Wednesday.
Affected Models
The recall involves certain models from 2020-2022, including:
– Chevrolet Silverado
– GMC Sierra
– 2021 Cadillac Escalade
– Chevrolet Tahoe
– GMC Yukon
Issue Details
The transmission control valve may fail in these vehicles, which can lead to the rear wheels locking up, thereby increasing the risk of a crash, according to the NHTSA.
Solution
To address the issue, dealers will install new transmission control module software at no cost. Additionally, GM will implement a special coverage program for repairing transmissions with the defective valve.
Dealer Action
GM has also instructed its dealers to immediately halt the delivery of the affected vehicles.
