General Motors’ Cruise Fined by NHTSA
WASHINGTON (Reuters) – The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration announced on Monday that General Motors’ self-driving car unit, Cruise, will pay a $1.5 million fine. This fine is due to Cruise’s failure to disclose details regarding a serious crash in October 2023 that involved a pedestrian.
As part of the settlement, Cruise is required to submit a corrective action plan to NHTSA, outlining how it will improve compliance regarding the reporting of serious incidents. Additionally, Cruise will face enhanced reporting requirements for a minimum of two years.
