GM Recalls Bolt EV and EUV Vehicles
(Reuters) – The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration announced on Tuesday that General Motors (NYSE:GM) would recall 107 Bolt EV and EUV vehicles due to a fire risk.
Details of the Recall
The recall affects previously repaired Bolt vehicles from model years 2020-2022. The U.S. auto safety regulator stated that the installation of advanced diagnostic software might have failed, creating a potential fire hazard when the battery is charged to full or nearly full capacity.
Safety Recommendations
The regulator has advised owners of the affected vehicles to:
– Limit the charge level to 90%
– Avoid depleting the battery to a range of 70 miles
– Not charge EVs indoors overnight
These measures are intended to mitigate the risk of fire while the recall process is underway.
