Europe Prepares to Respond to U.S. Trade Tariffs
BERLIN (Reuters) – Europe is ready to take action in response to potential trade restrictions, as outlined by German Economy Minister Robert Habeck on Monday.
After discussions with industry representatives and the EU’s chief trade officer, Habeck emphasized the importance of a united and decisive reaction to unilateral trade barriers imposed by the U.S. “Europe must and can only react unitedly and decisively to unilateral trade restrictions. And we are prepared for this,” he stated.
Habeck conducted a roundtable with industry leaders regarding future trans-Atlantic relations on Monday and communicated by phone with EU Trade Commissioner Maros Sefcovic, as noted in the official statement.
