Ryan Salame’s Legal Troubles

Lawyers for former FTX executive Ryan Salame requested a New York court to postpone his prison term to undergo urgent surgery after being “mauled” by a dog.

Salame, the former co-CEO of FTX Digital Markets, was sentenced to seven and a half years in prison after pleading guilty to criminal charges last year. His sentencing, originally set for August 29, is now being requested to be rescheduled to October 13.

According to the lawyers, Salame “was mauled by a German Shepherd while visiting a friend’s home” on June 29. Parts of the letter to Judge Lewis Kaplan of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York were redacted.

Following the incident, Salame sought medical attention on July 3 for a dog-bite injury to his face, as noted in a physician’s letter submitted to the court on Friday.

In September, Salame pled guilty to conspiring to make unlawful political contributions and operating an unlicensed money-transmitting business. He collaborated closely with former FTX CEO Sam Bankman-Fried, who was sentenced to nearly 25 years in prison after a fraud trial last year.
