FedEx Invests in AI Robotics and Autonomous Technology

(Reuters) – FedEx (NYSE:FDX) announced on Thursday an investment in AI robotics and autonomous technology company Nimble to enhance its Fulfillment unit, which supports small and medium-sized businesses in order fulfillment and inventory management.

Parcel delivery companies are increasing investments in automation to reduce costs and improve efficiency amid subdued freight demand.

FedEx stated that this investment will streamline supply chain capabilities across North America using Nimble’s automated third-party logistics solutions.

“Our strategic alliance and financial investment with Nimble expands our footprint in the e-commerce space, helping to further scale our FedEx Fulfillment offering across North America,” said Scott Temple, FedEx Supply Chain president.

The details of the investment size were not disclosed.
