Stellantis Revitalizes Italian Production
(Reuters) – Carmaker Stellantis (NYSE:STLA) announced a revitalization plan for its Italian operations, aiming to strengthen ties with the Italian government.
Overall Plan
- All factories in Italy will remain open and increase output starting in 2026 due to new model launches.
- Stellantis commits to production allocations until 2032 without needing public funds.
- Investment of 2 billion euros in 2025 and a total of 10 billion euros from 2021-2025.
Government Support
- Industry Minister Adolfo Urso announced a 1.6 billion euro investment to support the automotive supply chain, with over 1 billion euros allocated for next year.
- No new car purchase incentives through government funds will be provided in 2025.
Pomigliano D'Arco Plant
- Production of at least two compact models starting in 2028 using the new 'STLA Small' platform, with the old Panda model extended until 2030.
Melfi Plant
- Production of Jeep Compass, Lancia Gamma, and DS7 (both electric and hybrid versions) beginning in 2025, tripling production volumes.
- Manufacturing of the DS8 model in EV only.
Cassino Plant
- Building three large models, including the Alfa Romeo Stelvio SUV from next year, considering hybrid versions too.
Mirafiori Complex
- Hybrid version of the 500 city car to be produced from late 2025, with a next-gen version until 2032-2033.
- Plans to increase eDCT gearbox production from 600,000 to 900,000 units yearly.
- Establishing European operations headquarters here.
Atessa Van Making Plant
- Production of large EV vans initiated under various brands, with a new version planned for 2027.
Termoli Plant
- Reassessing plans to convert the engine facility into a gigafactory based on market demand and conditions.
Modena Plant
- Designated as the high-end hub for Maserati, future plans under consideration.
