Nifty Island Introduces AI Agents

Ethereum-based metaverse game Nifty Island has added support for interactive AI agents, allowing creators to drag and drop them into their in-game islands to create interactive characters.

Players can easily integrate popular AI agents like Luna, AgentYP, or VaderAI, or they can design their own custom agent. Once placed on an island, players can engage with these agents, who can respond, dance, and perform actions on-chain.

“Just as we’ve done with NFTs and meme coins, our goal is to bring things people are excited about on-chain into Nifty. This allows people to play, create, and win prizes around them,” said Nifty Island founder Charles Smith in an interview with Decrypt. “This is significant because, until now, crypto-native AI agents have simply functioned as chatbots on X. Now, we’ve taken the first steps toward integrating them into games.”

By default, users can only place an agent on their own island. However, users who hold at least 100,000 of the ecosystem’s native ISLAND token (nearly $3,000 worth) can deploy agents for use across all islands.

Those deploying AI will have the option to inject Nifty Island knowledge into the agents, allowing them to understand island names, descriptions, and active quests in the future.

“Using this heightened awareness of in-game and on-chain activity, they can dispense prizes based on that activity and chat with players,” Smith added. “In the future, they will act as more active game participants, aiding in creation and play.”

As part of its expanding multi-chain strategy, Nifty Island recently announced plans to integrate Ronin, an Ethereum sidechain with robust gaming foundations. It also launched the ISLAND token for trading on Solana.

The platform completed its play-to-airdrop campaign in December 2024, rewarding participating users with ISLAND, the ecosystem token that initially launched on the Ethereum blockchain.
