eBay Inc Q3 Earnings Report
eBay Inc (NASDAQ:EBAY) reported its third-quarter earnings, slightly surpassing analyst expectations. However, its shares fell 10% in after-hours trading due to lackluster guidance for the vital holiday shopping season.
Key Highlights:
- Adjusted EPS: $1.19, beating the estimate of $1.18
- Revenue: $2.6 billion, exceeding the consensus of $2.55 billion (3% increase YoY)
Despite these positive results, eBay's outlook for Q4 did not meet Wall Street's projections. The company anticipates Q4 EPS between $1.17 and $1.22, which is below the expected $1.22. The revenue guidance of $2.53-2.59 billion also falls short of the analysts' forecast of $2.649 billion.
CEO's Statement
"We achieved another quarter of positive GMV growth and delivered strong results across our key metrics," stated Jamie Iannone, CEO of eBay. He added that their Focus Categories and geo-specific investments are creating momentum while leveraging AI for innovative customer experiences.
Gross Merchandise Volume (GMV)
For Q3, GMV was $18.3 billion, reflecting a 2% increase on an as-reported basis and 1% on an FX-neutral basis compared to last year.
Advertising Revenue
eBay's advertising segment also performed well, with first-party advertising products generating $396 million, marking a 15% increase YoY.
