DSV in Lead for Deutsche Bahn’s Schenker Unit
BERLIN (Reuters) – Danish transport firm DSV is slightly ahead in the bidding race for German state railway Deutsche Bahn’s logistics unit Schenker, according to sources familiar with the sales process on Friday.
DSV’s offer is currently viewed as the most attractive following a government committee meeting that evaluated their bid alongside a competing bidder, a consortium led by CVC Capital Partners.
The railway itself appears to favor the Danish firm, but the ultimate decision rests with the government. Both bids are estimated to be around €14 billion ($15.6 billion).
Deutsche Bahn has chosen not to comment on the situation.
While the government committee’s assessment is a crucial step in the sale process, it does not equate to a final decision, which could be announced by the end of September at the earliest.
