Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) Launches Logo
The Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) has published its memecoin logo on its website following President Donald Trump’s inauguration on Monday.
The official .gov page not only states that it is an official United States government website but also displays the department’s title alongside a dollar sign and the slogan, “the people voted for major reform”.
This move comes as the head of the unit, long-time Dogecoin enthusiast and billionaire Trump supporter, Elon Musk, is reportedly now in sole charge of operations. Former co-lead, biotech entrepreneur and crypto advocate Vivek Ramaswamy, appears to be planning a run for governor of Ohio next year.
Trump selected the pair to lead DOGE after his presidential election victory in November. He announced, “Together, these two wonderful Americans will pave the way for my Administration to dismantle Government Bureaucracy, slash excess regulations, cut wasteful expenditures, and restructure Federal Agencies.”
Although not an official government department, DOGE is intended to offer guidance for large-scale structural reform from outside the U.S. government, adopting an unprecedented “entrepreneurial approach” as it collaborates with the White House and Office of Management and Budget.
Dogecoin, created as a joke in 2013 by software engineers Billy Markus and Jackson Palmer, has garnered significant attention. Musk commented, “I make Dogecoin jokes and stuff because I just kind of like Dogecoin. It’s got the best sense of humor, and it has dogs and memes, and I love all those things.”
As of Tuesday, Dogecoin has risen about 11% to $0.40, according to The Block’s DOGE Price Page.
