Blockchain Gaming: Progress and Innovations

Blockchain gaming is on the rise, recently attracting millions of new players through easy-to-access games like Notcoin and Hamster Kombat.

Gunzilla Games Launches Off the Grid

A significant advancement occurred when Gunzilla Games released an early-access version of its battle royale title, Off the Grid, available on PlayStation 5 and the Epic Game Store. Early reviews highlight its AAA-quality graphics and gameplay.

Player Asset Trading

The game aims to innovate by allowing players across PlayStation, Xbox, and PC to trade in-game assets. This positions Off the Grid as the first console game to feature on-chain functionality for in-game asset management, utilizing Gunzilla's GUNZ blockchain.

According to Gunzilla, "GUNZ, built on a custom Avalanche L1, empowers developers with tools to create player-driven economies, allowing full ownership of in-game assets as tradable NFTs."

Future of NFT Trading

Details on when full trading functionalities for Off the Grid NFTs will be available remain unclear. However, in April, NFT marketplace OpenSea announced an integration with the GUNZ blockchain, enhancing the trading experience for in-game items.

Support and Funding

Notably, Neill Blomkamp, an Oscar-nominated filmmaker, co-founded Gunzilla and announced the early-access game launch on social media, sharing a trailer link. Earlier this year, Gunzilla raised $30 million in a funding round co-led by CoinFund and Avalanche’s Blizzard Fund. Recently, Delphi Ventures became the largest validator on the Gunzilla ecosystem and the GUNZ platform.
