Tether Discontinues Support for Legacy Blockchains

Tether, the issuer of the largest stablecoin USDT, announced in its latest update that it will stop supporting various blockchains including Omni, Bitcoin Cash SLP, Kusama, EOS, and Algorand.

The decision was made after a strategic infrastructure review and will take effect from September 1, 2025. Tether aims to simplify operations, respond to user demand, and focus on more efficient blockchains.

Key Details:

• Affected Blockchains: Omni Network (OMNI), Bitcoin Cash (BCH), Smooth Love Potion (SLP), Kusama (KSM), EOS, and Algorand (ALGO).
• Users are advised to liquidate their holdings or move tokens to supported blockchains.
• As Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino stated, this change reflects the company’s commitment to adapting in a rapidly evolving digital asset ecosystem.
• This marks the end of support for these legacy networks, which were essential in Tether’s early growth but have seen a significant decline in circulating USD₮ volume over the past two years.
