Binance Co-founder Changpeng “CZ” Zhao’s Giggle Academy

Giggle Academy, founded by Binance co-founder Changpeng “CZ” Zhao, raised over a million dollars in public donations within half a day, largely thanks to a memecoin.

The donation address for Giggle Academy revealed a balance of over 1,311 BNB, which is valued at over $1.3 million, as noted by BscScan. Donations opened on Sunday.

A significant portion of the funds came from a memecoin named “Giggle,” launched by the Giggle Fund. This fund transfers trading fees from the memecoin to Giggle Academy in BNB.

Giggle Academy announced that all donations will be allocated toward community building, creator incentives, ecosystem development, and product promotion. The project aims to let teachers contribute educational material and reward top performers, enabling them to “rise to the top.”

Launch of Giggle Fund Following User Inquiry

After a query from an X user named RUNE about the acceptance of token donations, CZ commented that memecoin donations would be converted or sold for major altcoins, but advised against complaining about any resultant selling pressure.

RUNE later pointed out that the memecoin operates differently, charging fees in BNB and sending tokens as donations, ensuring that no individuals are adversely affected.

According to BscScan, the fund has conducted 967 out of nearly 10,000 transactions with Giggle Academy since its initiation.

In the last 24 hours, Giggle Fund’s transaction count surged over 470%, with a trading volume of $2.8 million. Its description highlights it as a “donation coin that directly supports Giggle Academy.”

Giggle Academy’s Vision for Free Education

Giggle Academy’s concept paper details its ambition to offer free education for K-12 students in non-traditional fields like negotiations, finance, blockchain, and AI, particularly targeting children in poorer or developing nations.

The initiative does not aim to replace existing educational systems, as it will also cover traditional subjects such as math, reading, writing, and science while avoiding history and religion to reduce potential debates on global platforms.

CZ has previously set an ambitious target of educating 100 million or even 1 billion children in the coming years.
